After losing my Aunt, I realized that no matter what happens- everything in life continues to go on. I’ve struggled coping. For the most part though I’m dealing with everything really good.
One thing that my aunt used to always do was help run all of my community service projects. She was the mastermind behind many of the things that I’ve done in the past.
Years ago we saw on TV someone in another state that had placed scarves on trees for the homeless in the winter. We were supposed to one day do it together. We were never able to do it physically side by side. But that’s alright, I did it this year with her in my heart.
On 12.23.19, I placed 30+ scarves on bare trees throughout the city of Norfolk. It was one of the best feelings that I’ve had in a long time. My heart was full. That night, I asked my mom if we could use additional funds to purchase more scarves. She was hesitant because I’ll also be passing out care backpacks tomorrow. However, she agreed.
Christmas Eve, I passed out 60 additional scarves. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pass out at least 25 more to mark 100+ total. Next year, maybe even double that amount.
Special Thanks to WTKR3 for interviewing me and allowing me to share my passion with others. I’m hoping that my random act of kindness sparks another persons fire to do their part and passes it on to someone else. Could you imagine how awesome that would be? Amazing.
